Meet Your Retreat Host, Emily (she/her).

I’m Emily — queer, deeply human, and someone who believes joy isn’t something we earn. It’s something we remember.

I created Journey to Joy because I know what it feels like to move through the world braced — successful on the outside, disconnected on the inside — and how powerful it is when that tension finally softens in the presence of safety and community.

My background blends science and embodied healing. I hold a Master’s degree in Public Health focused on health behavior, and I’ve spent years working in healthcare, government, and one-on-one support. Alongside that, I’m trained in trauma-informed coaching, mindfulness, somatic and energetic practices, and embodiment work.

More than anything, I care about how space is held.

I create environments where queer folks don’t have to explain themselves. Where choice is honored. Where rest, play, sensuality, and depth can exist together. This retreat isn’t about fixing you — it’s about letting your body experience safety, joy, and connection again.

I’ll be there with you for the entire journey, holding the container alongside an incredible team of practitioners.

You’re welcome exactly as you are.

Meet Your Yoga and Somatic Guide, Molly (she/her/they).

Molly offers psychosomatic inquiry rooted in empathy and grounded in gratitude.

Molly's earliest memories before the age of 2 include practicing yoga from a children's picture-book, making embryo shapes beneath the plank-holds of her mother doing Jane Fonda cassette tape workouts. Bribed by the promise of a donut, she took her first group yoga class at 12, taught her first yoga class at 16, and made it the centerpiece of her somatic career in 2008 (the yoga, not the donut ;). In 2010 she co-founded PLAY (Portland Laughter And Yoga) which brought free Laughter Yoga to many different communities with the intention of making joy accessible to the body to remap freedom, openness, and contentment in the mind.
In 2024 she layered on to her foundational learning by becoming a Licensed Massage Therapist and Somatic Practitioner with advanced education in Craniosacral Therapy. She has always been captivated by the exploration of wholeness through the experience and experiment of being in a body.
As a queer individual, Molly sees a profound and joyful opportunity in every yoga class to experience deep connection and unity amidst abundant choice and nuanced variation.Teaching to the spectral experience of embodied awareness, her classes offer layers, options, and inquiry-based choice to explore internal expression with an open-aperture. Molly's personal commitment to joy informs and influences her broad scale activism and her 1:1 interactions and she looks forward to exploring the impact of our collective embodied joy together.
